Leipzig-based Unister.de just acquired another very interesting generic domain name. For over 800.000 Euro they purchased www.kredit.de, after already running businesses on websites as www.news.de, www.geld.de, www.preisvergleich.de and others (for a full overview check here).

VerkehrsmittelVergleich.de is a meta search engine that helps finding the fastest and cheapest connection between two cities. The search compares and combines all relevant means of transportation such as train, plane, car, bus, car pool, taxi and rental car. Beta users may register at www.verkehrsmittelvergleich.de. HHL alumnus Marcel Radzei and his meta flight search www.billigflieger.de have recently been featured as best-practice for starting up a business from www.saxxess.com.

Brands4friends, the private shoping club financed a.o. by HHL-alumnus Lukasz Gadowski, just closed another investment round. Apparently they gathered additional 10 Mio. Euro for their national and international expansion. More information here and here
HHL-alumnus Ulrich Steinmann founded Steinmann Consulting to support companies fighting against product piracy.
According to their business proposal, today this issue is often left with the legal department, but a lawyer is usually not effective enough, if products are copied by well organized criminals.
